Professional Dog Training near Frisco, TX

Trusted Dog Training for Frisco Families

Since founder Chuck Bratt, a Certified Master Trainer, launched K-9 University in 1993, the goal has stayed the same: give dog owners access to training that actually works, not a watered-down version of it. Frisco pet parents make the short drive to our Plano location for exactly that reason — a staff that treats behavior training as a craft, backed by real expertise in how dogs learn and respond. The dedication runs as deep as the knowledge behind it.

Obedience Training for Frisco Dogs

Take a walk through Frisco Commons Park or along the trails at Harold Bacchus Community Park on any weekend, and you'll spot the difference immediately — dogs sitting calmly at their owner's side, ignoring the joggers and other pups streaming past. Then there's the dog at the other end of your leash, straining toward every squirrel in sight. The owners at the park didn't get lucky. Their dogs went through obedience training.

Obedience training is the umbrella term for the skills that add up to that calm, controlled behavior — and it takes real, structured work to get there. Our trainers bring the experience to tailor that work to your dog's specific temperament and actually deliver results, not just short-term compliance. K-9 University is committed to bringing that same standard of professional dog training to Frisco, so you and your dog can build the strongest relationship possible.

The Skills Your Dog Will Build

K-9 University's training method covers the physical, emotional, and mental sides of behavior — not just teaching a dog to sit on command. Owners who complete our programs consistently see:
    • Less hyperactivity
    • Fewer destructive habits
    • A dog that actually listens the first time
    • More mental stimulation, less boredom-driven behavior
    • Better socialization around people and other dogs
    • A stronger bond between dog and owner
    • Reduced restlessness
    • Lower aggression
    • Lower overall stress, for the dog and for you

    Board-and-Train: The Complete Option

Plenty of training programs offer a weekly session or a quick daily check-in, and while the intent is good, they leave a lot on the table. Our board-and-train option gives Frisco dog owners a deeper, more thorough path to real change, delivered from our Plano and Garland, TX facilities.

Consistency and repetition — with minimal distraction — are what actually make training stick. That's the idea behind board-and-train: you drop your dog off with us for a set stay, typically 14 days. During that window, your dog gets the most immersive version of our training, and comes home noticeably more focused, attentive, and obedient than when they left.

Once the initial two-week stay wraps up, we schedule a one-hour orientation, followed by weekly 30-minute follow-up lessons. From there, you and your dog move into group training classes together. Most families complete the full process in eight to ten weeks — and the payoff is hard to overstate. It works just as well for puppies building good habits from scratch as it does for older dogs unlearning problem behaviors.

Why Frisco Pet Parents Choose K-9 University

Frisco has grown into one of the most active pet-owning communities in the DFW area, and it shows — from the crowds at Ruff Range Dog Park inside B.F. Phillips Community Park to the leashed walkers filling the loop trail at Frisco Commons Park most evenings. Neighborhoods like Windsong Ranch and The Grove were built with dog owners in mind, with community dog runs baked right into the master plan.

That kind of engaged, dog-first community is exactly who K-9 University trains for. Frisco pet parents come to our Plano location because a quality obedience program shouldn't stop at a city line — and because a dog that's calm at Ruff Range or comfortable meeting neighbors on a Frisco Commons walk is the direct result of the kind of structured training we specialize in.
