It was just over a year ago when I found K-9 University. We had recently got a puppy, a Westie, and were trying to get him potty trained and adapted to living with our family and pets, two cats. We were looking for a place to board Archie while we went on vacation. I was looking for a caring and warm atmosphere that would take great care of Archie & make sure he didn’t feel abandon while we were away.
Well we found exactly what we were looking for and so much more. After I met the staff and found out all the great services provided by K-9 U, there was no hesitation in leaving Archie there while we were gone.
We enrolled Archie in the two week training & boarding with follow up individual classes. This was the best investment we ever made in a pet. Archie came home with all his new skills. We were educated and learned how to work with Archie. Fred’s excellent people & pet skills had both me & Archie performing at a lightning pace.
We were able to take Archie to PeeWee Football games & practice WITHOUT any of the usual puppy issues; jumping up, running out of control and pulling on the leash. Everyone asked how such a young dog could be so well behaved. I gave all the credit to Fred at K-9 U, a smart dog & a great decision to pick K-9 University for training.
Since then we have used the overnight boarding, and day care. You know you have picked the right place when the dog is happy & excited when you drop him off. I can’t say enough about the entire Garland crew, Fred and what a positive impact on my pet and family.
Best regards,
Todd Edwards

Tony and I are so happy to see K-9 University expand and succeed. You have made our having Nat so much more a pleasure, and all of our friends who visit our home are so impressed with what a good dog he is. Of course we always tell them why he is so well behaved.......K-9 University.

Hi Chuck and Andy and that really sweet lady with the shorter hair (her name has escaped me, but I know Ariel (my mini schnauzer) loves her! --
Just wanted to let you guys know that the e-newsletter looks great (coming from my graphic design standpoint! A lot of professionals could actually get some design tips from you guys!) and I can't wait to see the remodeled K9 University!
And I love the coupons you guys put out in your newsletters. I'll be sure to use it the next time I bring Ariel in.
Thanks and keep up the great work!

When I first got my chihuahua, Bogey he was a confused mess. He went potty every place but outside, he lacked confidence, but then again I would too if I'd been in six different homes and no one wanted me and he was only 6 months old then.
I am so grateful I found you folks because you helped Bogey to become the best buddy in the world. He still thinks he's a big dog and I sometimes have problems with him trying to take on bigger dogs, but overall he's a well behaved, happy and loving friend. We've been together five years and he's doing really well. I've even taught him how to roll over and give me his belly. All he needed was a stable home, some training and consistency in his life. It's been wonderful to see his self confidence build up, too. There is no way I was going to give up on the little guy.
Thanks for helping me to help him.

Hello Chuck:
Your team at the Garland office is just wonderful. My daughter was skeptical when I paid the $575 fee (February Disc given) and know she sees the difference in my Micha. It is very rare that he jumps up on people, he doesn’t whine in the crate at night, so I get a great night sleep. We are doing the routines that Andy told me to do and Micha does great. I just picked Micha up from K-9 on 2/17 and we go for the next one-on-one training 2/24. I would indeed recommend K-9 Univ to everyone. Micha continues to improve everyday and we are looking forward to Saturday’s 2/24 session.
With many thanks,

Good morning!
You probably already know how the home visit went yesterday; but I just have to give you the details (smile).
The visit was a big success. Shadow is great with Bogart and Bogart is willing to allow Shadow to be the more dominant dog
We started out by walking the neighborhood and wouldn’t you know it, there were dogs running loose all over the place (or it sure felt that way). Additionally, we were stalked by a little white poodle (smile) and Shadow and Bogart did not let it bother them because they were too busy walking.
In the backyard, Shadow and Bogart played, played, and played. Shadow sure does like to nip at Bogart’s heels and of course, Bogart was so busy trying to check out everything in the yard that he wanted Shadow to wait (Shadow did not want to wait!).
Bogart really eyed my swimming pool and would have gone right in for a swim if Fred hadn’t been holding his leash (smile).
Inside the house, Shadow and Bogart ate dinner in the same room without issues and when Bogart met my cats, he checked them out and quickly became interested in other items in the room. He is by no means fixated on cats. Shadow is actually more interested in the cats then Bogart.
I did some one-on-one training with Bogart in my living room and he listened and obeyed me very well (sit, down, stay, come, and heel).
The dogs settled down very nicely and both were sleepy by the end of the visit.
It really looks like the adoption is going to work. Our next step is to have Bogart spend a weekend with Shadow and I (Gail has agreed to this).
Having Fred at the house assisting and guiding me in handling both dogs was definitely needed and very helpful.
I can’t thank all of you enough for everything you have done and continue to do. You are great!
Shadow, Bogart, and I send a great big thank you to all of you (Chuck, Andra, Fred, and Andy).

Andra,
Thank you for working with me over the problem with my receiving an incorrect price for Jenny & Prince's recent boarding. I can only praise your business for your excellent care of our kids while we were gone. I also want to say that I also want to give Fred praise for his extremely hard work and wonderful attitudes at K-9.
With receiving a recent misquote about boarding our dogs you worked with me with a great attitude making things right and next time we board our dogs we will remember that you made it right.

Andra,
I just wanted to say thank you for all you do for Tucker & my peace of mind.
I know he's 100% happy & safe when he's with you and that just puts my mind completely at ease. You've been such a great help over the past year and I just can't thank you enough. I look forward to many more years of boarding & daycare fun.
All the best,
Alicia Harden

Andra,
I want you to know how much I appreciate all of you especially Fred. As you know I have been working on eliminating Shadow’s aggression towards other dogs and even though he has only been in training for three months, he has shown great improvement. The group sessions with Fred are very helpful and Shadow no longer ‘stares down’ other dogs. Fred has helped tremendously because he is always willing to help. He listens to my concerns and questions, and last Saturday after group, I mentioned wanting to have Shadow make contact with another dog within a controlled environment. Fred set up the ‘test’ for last night and even though the first contact was not a success, Fred did not give up (by the way, it wasn’t what I would call a failure either because didn’t attack; he just growled). After group, Fred brought out another dog and the ‘test’ was a success. Because of Fred’s willingness to help Shadow and me, I know Shadow will reach the point of being well balanced and happy (no insecurities). What a great feeling to know that hard work will pay off!
Fred’s patience, his love of animals, and willingness to help others is simply wonderful. Fred also does an excellent job of telling the participants in the group sessions how well they are doing. I love being acknowledged for the work and effort I have been putting into Shadow’s training.
Thanks to everyone at K-9, because when Shadow is happy, I am happy.

Dear Andra, Andy, Fred and Staff:
Thanks you so much for taking such great care of my Iffy-Sniffy (Ifrit) while he was hurt. I know I don't have to worry when the dogs are with you guys. It means a lot to me that you take such wonderful care of my dogs whether they are hurt or just plain normal time with you!
Thanks again for all your help!

Thanks to all of you for taking such good care of our girls, Lily and Abbey, while they were at Camp K-9 University. They always seem to have so much fun while they are with you and all of you seem to love them so much. We plan to finish Abbey's group training just as soon as it turns a bit cooler.

Dear Andra, Andy and Chuck,
I wanted everyone to know what a great place K-9 University is! Ollie, Grace and Iffy love to come for visits. My boys were easy since they want to please humans but my hard-headed, dog aggressive Gracie-girl was handful I know. If it wasn't for all of you working hard to figure her out and get her behaving properly I wouldn't be able to take her out in polite company at all! Thank for all your hard work and dedication to my four-footed children!
Now, if you could just do something with the two footed kind. ;)

Dear Andra, Andy, Kelly, Chuck and all the Staff,
Dan and I would like to express our appreciation for all your help over these past 5 years. Without your support, we would not have been able to keep Magnum. His life was definitely extended because of you. He lasted for 7 years, but sadly, he passed on this morning.
I know that most people thought we were crazy to keep a dog like him. There were a lot times even we questioned our sanity. But with your guidance, patience, and of course, a lot of hard work, Magnum finally came around. Even though we always had to be vigilant about his immediate environment, we were able to take him out to adult soccer games and for walks in public parks.
Magnum would still be with us tonight if age and arthritis hadn’t affected him. We miss him very much, but are so grateful to all of you for the extra time we had with him.
We plan to bring Libby around, so we’ll see you soon. Hope the new year is happy and successful.
Our sincerest thanks,
Vicky and Dan Downs

You trained our Madeleine in 1998, when she was a willful four-year-old cocker. She stomped her little feet a bit, but she came home a trained dog who followed our vocal commands and hand signs. She is now a more willful 11-year-old with hearing and sight problems, but I feel I can keep her safe because of your training. And, she still stomps her little feet when she relents to obey our commands against her wishes.
Our shepherd-mix puppy, Rita, was skittish and fearful, but your training 18 months ago has helped us to help her feel safe and protected. She is growing up into a more confident girl.
The work you did with our new cavalier-mutt, Ralph, this spring has been a blessing, as he easily goes into his crate and out of trouble.
When we have boarded them with you, you all treat our dogs well, care for their special needs, and understand that they are our family.
We will continue to use your services and will continue to recommend you to our friends and colleagues.
Sincerely,
Janice Gillmore

Couldn't resist the opportunity to make a comment...Zoe (4) and Rocky (3) just had birthdays and both girls stick behave like proper ladies 90% of the time. The other 10% of the time is allowed! You had both girls when they were 3 months old and they have not forgot there lessons!
Glad to see you are growing!
Sincerely,
Laura, Zoe and Rocky Bedard

Andra, Andy, David and the rest of the trainers,
I just wanted to take a minute to tell you how much I appreciate your dedication to the well being of Hercules and Patches this past weekend. With everything my aunt and uncle had to go through with the evacuation, it was such a relief to know that their babies were well taken care of.
Considering all the obstacles of no shot records, dropping the dogs off at the vet next door, making the transfer and needing to pick them up on Sunday, your entire staff responded like true, caring professionals.
We will never forget your kindness.
Thanks again,
Kathy McBride (mommy of Maddie)
